Post-operative pain management is challenging across the world. International data shows that poorly managed post-operative pain has the potential to cause a multitude of complications.
In South Africa, there is a paucity of data on post-operative pain management. The data that is available is single centre observational data. In an effort to develop a national picture of post-operative pain management practices and to develop strategies to improve post-operative pain management in South Africa, we will be conducting a national research-based quality improvement project. This project has been made possible through collaboration with PAIN-OUT.
Details of the project are explained in the attached document.
Any individuals or hospital interested in joining this exciting national research project can submit an application for consideration. If you would like any further information about the study, you can also contact one of the national principal investigators – Sean Chetty (firstname.lastname@example.org) – for more information.
The closing date for applications is 15th August 2019
