2021 Pain Academy Webinar – Dr Tory Madden

Ethical planning of interdisciplinary pain management

Dr Tory Madden is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Cape Town, where she studies the influence that living in a threatening environment may have on the persistence of pain. She believes that preventing and treating chronic pain more effectively will require a better understanding of why and how pain persists after tissue has healed.  Tory is an associate editor for the Body in Mind blog site, which disseminates research findings to clinicians and the public in order to make science more accessible and speed up progress for people who have pain.  She also teaches Pain Science to healthcare professionals on UCT’s Postgraduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Pain Management and the Train Pain Academy.  Tory is a registered clinical physiotherapist who obtained her PhD at the University of South Australia, where she won the University’s Ian Davey Research Prize for the best thesis produced that year.
