Chronic pain can be complex to manage, but treatment does not always need to involve major intervention. In this presentation, anaesthetist Dr Marshall Sithole explores minimally invasive techniques used in the management of chronic pain and considers where they fit within a broader treatment approach.
The presentation will examine interventions, such as steroid injections, prolotherapy, chemical neurolysis and rhizotomies; as well as the role of ultrasound and X-ray guidance.
Importantly, the session will consider whether these interventions are best viewed as standalone treatments, or as adjuncts to a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to chronic pain.
