JUNE 2020
President’s Message
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy as we continue to support one another and adjust to life and work during these times.
IASP PAIN, June 2020 5
As my presidency comes to an end in September, the association is aiming to complete my strategic priorities related to chapter relations, patient engagement, SIG actions, fundraising, and more. We are planning to conduct a virtual General Assembly in September, where we will communicate accomplishments that Council and volunteers have helped achieve in the last few years. Information on these achievements will be circulated to all members following the meeting.

As previously mentioned, the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is highly dedicated to provide content to the community as we await the 2021 World Congress. Global Year webinars have exploded in attendance, illustrating the increased popularity in the webinar series. We continue to work hard to schedule new webinars and expand IASP’s library of educational opportunities.

IASP is excited to be launching the IASP Virtual Series on Pain & Expo in September. This event will provide a wealth of educational activities over the course of 6 months, including presentations and poster abstracts from those already accepted for World Congress. The event will also include a virtual exhibition hall, giving attendees the ability to browse exhibit booths with the latest products. More information will be available soon, including a schedule of sessions.
Please note that PAIN and PAIN Reports continue to solicit articles related to COVID-19.
Despite the challenges we are all facing during this pandemic, I assure you IASP is more innovative, agile, and dynamic than ever.
Lars Arendt-Nielsen, Dr. Med., PhD
