A Resounding Success: Recap of the 2024 PainSA Congress in Durban

The PainSA Congress in Durban this year was a resounding success! We at PainSA want to express our sincere gratitude to all the members who attended and made the event so informative and engaging.

The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive, and attendance was significantly higher than last year. This year’s Congress delivered on its promise, featuring:

·                     A stellar opening plenary session with presentations by esteemed academics like Prof Dean Gopalan, Prof Romy Parker, and the renowned Prof Winfried Meissner from Jena University in Germany.

·                     A highly anticipated address by Professor Roseanne Harris, Discovery Health’s Head of Regulatory and Policy Affairs, and Professor of Actuarial Science at Wits University. Following the signing of the National Health Insurance Act 2024, Prof. Harris provided delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the upcoming NHI journey.

·                     Engaging discussions and presentations on a wide range of topics, culminating in a thought-provoking exploration of the off-label use of substances in chronic pain treatment, both legal and illegal.
