Module Two of the IAHPC Palliative Care Advocacy, Member Education Series, “Access to essential medicines: normative, historical & policy context”, is now available on the IAHPC website. Due to the amount of content associated with this rather technical topic, we decided to split it and also address advocacy for medicines in Module Three, which will be available in January. If you wish to participate in the course and are not yet a member of IAHPC please join/renew.
IAHPC has reduced its membership fees by 20% through the end of the year. Members from more than thirty countries have already viewed Module One, “Global and regional advocacy framework, institutional landscape”. If you have not had the opportunity to review this module and the Introduction, both are available (free, open access) on the IAHPC website.

Subsequent modules, which will be launched monthly, will cover the following material:
- Advocating for Essential Palliative Care Medicines
- The evidence base – IAHPC data platform and other indices
- How to develop a needs assessment and policy brief
- Advocacy for palliative care education
- Advocacy for policy – case study: PC advocacy topics in a UN entity conference agenda and development of appropriate advocacy strategy
- Communication and presentation techniques
- Leadership skills
Modules, which are cumulative, comprise short lectures (around 40 minutes), reading lists, recordings, related videos, and optional quizzes. IAHPC members are welcome to participate in the course to improve their general knowledge and volunteer for our advocacy team. Those who complete the short quizzes (one per module) will be awarded a certificate of completion.
